Position Summary | Under the direction of the radiologist, provides CT services to patient for diagnosis. Closely follows physician's instructions, appropriately positions patients, prepares and operates equipment, and accurately records the images requested. | | | |
Education | Associates degree in allied health, applied/radiologic science or certificate program is required. |
Experience | 1 year of radiology experience is preferred. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Licensed Radiographer in the state of practice is required. May accept limited and/or temporary permits/licenses for a period of 12 months. | Certification/registration or registry-eligible as a Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (RT(R)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Certification/registration must be obtained within 12 months. | Computed Tomography (CT) credential from ARRT is preferred. | Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. |

Responsibilities | Verifies requisition for CT order and schedules appropriate amount of time for examinations. | Identifies patient by use of two unique identifiers. | Ensures that adequate clinical history is obtained from patient for the Radiologist. | Prepares needed supplies and assists physician with procedures. | Performs and adjusts each procedure based on patient needs. | Maintains positive communication with patient, respects and assures privacy of the patient, and assures patient’s needs for comfort and safety are met. | Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and has competency in common CT procedures. | Ensures that all charges are entered correctly. | Able to perform some preventive maintenance, trouble shooting, and minor repairs. | Keeps area cleaned and stocked at all times. | Regularly checks equipment, accessories and supplies. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Reduces the risk of healthcare acquired infections through compliance with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines and facility policies including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. Utilizes standard precautions during patient contact and when handling contaminated materials. Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains excellent interpersonal communication with the health care team colleagues. | Emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care-attending to body, mind, and spirit while upholding ethical principles with patient care and all other aspects of work. Actively involves the patient and family in decisions about care. Promotes quality care by participating in organizational councils/committees and/or support of related process. Documents services provided to patients in the electronic medical record in accordance with policy and requirements. |
