Position Summary | Operates and evaluates all power plant equipment for efficiency and safety. Adjusts gauges and dials, reads temperatures, and records output. Performs maintenance as needed. | | | |

Experience | Good understanding of working with boilers is preferred. | Good mechanical background with understanding of air-conditioning is preferred. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and lift. Must be able to tolerate variable amounts of standing, walking and/or sedentary activity. Must possess manual dexterity to handle and manipulate equipment and appliances. Must rotate different hours, shifts, and/or assigned areas, as well as be called in during emergencies to provide adequate coverage. | Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information. | Possesses strong technical aptitude and product knowledge. | Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. | Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. | Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion. |
Responsibilities | Operates natural gas engine-driven and electric-driven chillers to provide sufficient chilled water for cooling. Operates high-pressure steam boilers to supply sufficient steam pressure. Regenerates softeners to maintain adequate supply of soft water. | Tests emergency generators to maintain a state of readiness. Tests and treats boiler and cooling water according to specifications. | Operates and monitors pumps and air handlers. Checks air compressors for proper pressures and air dryers for proper operation. | Makes periodic rounds checking gauges and equipment, recording readings in logs. | Checks fire pump and test runs monthly. | May be required to do some mechanical repairs. |

Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members. |
