Position Summary

The Carpenter constructs, installs, repairs and maintains items of the facility and furnishings.

High School Diploma, GED or related vocational training is required.

5 years of experience working as a carpenter may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma or GED.

2 years of experience working as a carpenter in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.

Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and lift. Must be able to tolerate variable amounts of standing, walking and/or sedentary activity. Must possess manual dexterity to handle and manipulate equipment and appliances. Must rotate different hours, shifts, and/or assigned areas, as well as be called in during emergencies to provide adequate coverage.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.

Possesses strong technical aptitude and product knowledge.

Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty.

Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.

Completes work orders as assigned.

Designs and/or modifies equipment to meet the needs of the user without compromising regulatory approved equipment functions.

Reads and interprets drawings, sketches and prints.  Prepares sketch from information given.

Repairs windows, doors, equipment, furniture, ceiling tile, flooring and locks.

Constructs walls, cabinets, and furniture as assigned.

Assists with work related to other trades.

Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
