Position Summary

Assists in oversight and leadership within assigned area of responsibility. Duties may include: assists in the management of the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities; plans and allocates resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet productivity and quality goals.  Functions as a pharmacist as needed.

 

 


Education

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required.

 

Master’s degree or doctorate of Pharmacy preferred

 


Experience

3 years of related experience required.

 

2 years of progressively responsible leadership experience preferred.

 


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed as Pharmacist, or eligible for licensure as Pharmacist, in state of practice required.

Board certification preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships. Ability to lead others using excellent collaboration and team building skills.   Demonstrates strong written verbal communication and listening skills. Effectively delivers constructive feedback. Quickly trouble-shoots and resolves problems or escalates appropriately.

Above average time management, organizational and priority setting skills; able to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines.

High attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines with the ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.

Demonstrates critical thinking skills and initiative to independently manage moderately complex project and multiple priorities.

Maintains current working knowledge and is proficient in area of expertise.


Responsibilities

Serves as a resource to medical staff and nursing staff in establishment of appropriate drug therapy regimes.

Assists with the development and monitoring of performance improvement activities; may initiate activities as appropriate.

Assists with the development of standards for the delivery of quality services.

Integrates activities of staff into the overall functioning of the department and the affiliate, as appropriate, to coordinate services and to continuously improve the services provided.

Assures compliance with applicable state, federal, and regulatory requirements.

Addresses any daily operational issues and problem solves as required.

Performs staff pharmacist duties as needed and remains current with all pharmacy systems/services.

Assists with the establishment of short and long range goals and objectives related to quality patient care and service.

Assists with educational activities in the unit.

Serves as a professional mentor and coach for colleagues.

Serves as a mentor to colleagues in development of leadership and management skills.

Provides leadership in decision making processes.

Implements policies in regards to inventory maintenance and medication utilization for inventory control and stewardship.

Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Gathers and prepares statistical information for reports.

Coordinates creation of the schedule and approving adjustments.


Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. 

Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. 

Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders.
