Position Summary | Serves as the expert resource and lead person within volunteer services. Works closely with others to plan, implement, and facilitate the work activity of the unit to accomplish goals and objectives. Recruits, interviews, trains, places and monitors volunteers throughout the hospital to optimize patient care services. Acts as a liaison between the governing board and hospital leadership to ensure adherence to hospital policies, mission and goals. | | | |
Education | Associates Degree in business or a related field is preferred. |
Experience | 2 years of experience working with volunteers or 2 years of related experience in a not-for-profit healthcare setting is required. |

Responsibilities | Assists with volunteer scheduling, provides input regarding volunteer productivity and with the selection of new volunteers. | Is an expert resource and lead person for the functional activities performed by the unit. | Maintains knowledge and developments in unit functions overall and specifically in assigned work unit in relationship to goals and objectives. | Recruits and interviews prospective volunteers in person or over the phone to ascertain their qualifications, availability and motivation for volunteering. | Provides orientation, education, training and monitoring to new and existing volunteers to ensure job efficiency and satisfaction. | Performs day to day administrative tasks to ensure an effective and efficiently run department. | Oversees and is accountable for their hospital’s gift shop operations and works in harmony with other gift shops and all their volunteers. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members. |
