Position Summary | The Team Lead-Facilities serves as the expert resource and lead person within the service area. Works closely with the department leadership to plan, implement, and facilitate the work activity of the area to accomplish goals and objectives. Assumes overall responsibility for all functions of plant services and maintenance that guarantees the highest quality maintenance services and protects the investment of the physical plant and related equipment in the most cost effective and efficient manner. Related equipment includes, but is not limited to, mechanical equipment, refrigeration, power, heat, cooling, medical gas, sterilization systems, as well as certain departmental and patient care equipment. | | | |
Education | Associates degree in business, facility management, operations management, applied science or related field is required. | High School Diploma or Graduate of an Accredited Technical School Program plus 3 years of relevant experience (heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, machine shop practice, basic electricity) may be considered in lieu of degree. |
Experience | 5 years of plant operations experience is required. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Valid state driver’s license and must be insurable to operate hospital vehicles is required. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information. | Possesses strong technical aptitude and product knowledge. | Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. | Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. | Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion. |
Responsibilities | Facilitates and/or maintains the following: the ministry’s computer preventative maintenance system, compliance with all federal/state/local codes and regulations relating to the physical plant and secondary equipment, preparation of timely reports and statistics as required by department leadership, department records/reports/files, and vendor contracts. | Ensures compliance with the ministry’s environment of care management programs. | Serves on committees as requested. | Develops appropriate staffing schedules; Assists with onboarding and training new colleagues as well as supporting staff development programs within the service area. | Supports maintenance mechanics and performs necessary maintenance functions as needed, such as inspection and repair of door assemblies, maintenance and oversight of the buildings life safety systems, operation of the medical gas system, operation and function of the central utility plant, hazardous waste management, ordering maintenance supplies in the ministry’s purchasing system, and maintenance of any of the other building systems and components; directs and controls the operation of the energy management system | Coordinates maintenance activities with other departments throughout the hospital; orders and maintains maintenance supplies in the ministry’s purchasing system; | Responds to emergencies such as fire alarms, utility failures, and medical surges. | Assists other team members and leadership with other duties, including but not limited to: snow and ice mitigation, boilers and related controls, operating the building automation controls, water testing or culturing, grounds maintenance and trash collection, movement of furniture or equipment, or other ‘hand-on’ requests as needed. | May assist with security management and security initiatives as required. | Assists in the planning and development of new construction and remodeling of current structures. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline.
