Position Summary

Under general supervision, formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a good understanding of applicable systems and healthcare requirements. With this knowledge, develops or modifies complex systems requests. Includes analysis of organization and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary under general supervision of more senior Systems Analysts. Competent to work in most phases of systems analysis and considers the implications of the application of technology to the current business environment. Guides and advises less experienced Systems Analysts.

 


Education

Associates degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field is required.

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field is preferred.

 

High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of relevant experience in information technology, healthcare, or related field may be considered in lieu of an Associates degree.


Experience

3 years of experience in a clinical, business, healthcare environment, or other related information technology field is required.

Strong computer, hardware, and software skills.

Proven ability to assess business needs and translate them into relevant solutions.

Experience installing, configuring, documenting, testing, training, and implementing new applications and systems.

Responsibilities

Consults with users, evaluates needs, and determines impact system-wide.

Analyzes and resolves complex issues. Works independently in using available resources to research problems.

Implements, tests, maintains, documents, and provides functional support for application software that adheres to all Information & Technology Services (ITS) standards and procedures.

Assists with project management and provides project coordination, support, analysis, and training.

Analyzes changes and enhancements to applications and determines their impact on existing production systems.

Provides support and analysis during development, testing, and implementation phases of projects.

Creates documentation and training guides for the user community to aid in usage of the installed or developed system software.  Provides formal training classes or individualized training sessions for user community as required.

Provides solutions, discussions, and status in writing, verbally, and graphically as required.  Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference.

Acts as a resource to less experienced Systems Analysts. Manages multiple assignments in an organized way. Under general direction, determines and develops approach to complete assignments. Meets assigned task schedules and participates in overall quality review of own and others work.

Analyzes and provides solutions to wide range of difficult problems.

Performs routine and special assignments in support of area objectives; often functioning across disciplines and areas of expertise.

Works with vendors to resolve complex problems.

Provides evening, night and/or weekend on-call support as scheduled.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
