Position Summary | Facilitates patient and clerical activities, including order entry, documentation, communication of information necessary for patient care, system management, chart assembly and analysis, customer service/public relations activities related to patient care and unit operations. Ensures accurate data collection and data entry to facilitate customer satisfaction and timely and accurate reimbursement for services. | | | |
Education | High School Diploma or GED is preferred. |
Experience | Working knowledge of medical terminology and/or previous course in medical terminology is desirable. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred. |

Responsibilities | Effectively operates various communication systems (e.g. telephone, paging, intercom, copy machine, nurse call) in a courteous and friendly manner, triaging calls using appropriate communication system etiquette, in order to facilitate proper response. | Serves as receptionist and communication hub, coordinating department activities | Assists public and professional staff respectfully and effectively, mindful at all times of service excellence standards. | Retrieves, sorts, and classifies information received from the printer, including labels and forms, as well as medical record documents. | Assists with auditing daily unit charges and makes changes as necessary. | Compiles statistical information as requested. | Distributes written communication from leadership and posts as indicated |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members. |
