Position Summary

Provides accounting support to the Director and Manager of Accounting. This includes maintaining the general accounting system, preparing the financial statements and budgets for the Hospital and other subsidiaries, and completing other tasks as determined.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.


Experience

5 years' experience in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.

Experience working in a health care organization is preferred.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares timely and accurate GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices) financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information. Serves as a financial liaison for department leaders. Analyzes accounting systems and procedures, making recommendations to the Manager for improvement of internal controls or processes when necessary. Documents accounting systems and procedures.

Performs the general ledger accounting close to include:

  Preparing monthly journal entries

  Maintenance of accounting schedules, including prepaids, fixed assets, etc.

  Prepare monthly credit card and bank reconciliations

  Reconciliations of general ledger accounts, variance investigation and resolution

Perform fluctuation analysis and variance investigation to comparable periods and budget performance and confers with the Manager on all material variances. Investigates variances by communicating with the appropriate personnel. Prepares other financial analyses of entities when requested by Director and Manager. maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required. support Accounts Payable (AP) to ensure proper and consistent coding and timely payments for vendors and employee expenses as needed. Support AP in performing annual 1099 filings as needed.

Compiles and assists the Manager in the preparation of the annual budget including coordination with appropriate personnel for entities under his/her responsibility. Responsible for accumulating information for tax preparers to ensure timely filing of various tax returns (e.g. Form 990, 990T), or direct preparation of tax returns in some instances. Assists external auditors and prepares all necessary audit schedules for entities.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
