Position Summary | Under the direction of the radiologist, provides MRI services to patient for diagnosis. Closely follows physician's instructions, appropriately positions patients, prepares and operates equipment, and accurately records the images requested. | | | |
Education | Associates degree in allied health, applied/radiologic science or certificate program is required. |
Experience | 1 year of Radiology Technology experience preferred. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | One of the following is required: | • Certification or registry eligible as a Registered Technologist in Radiography (R.T.(R)) or a Registered Technologist in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (R.T.(MR)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). | • Certification or registry eligible as a Registered Technologist by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). | Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer. | If certified through ARRT, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) certification/registry is preferred. | Basic Life Support (BLS) required. |

Responsibilities | Adheres to MRI safety protocols. Under the direction of the radiologist, provides MRI services to patient. Closely follows physician's instructions, appropriately positions patients, prepares and operates equipment, and accurately records the images requested. | Demonstrates PACS and EMR competency, has thorough understanding of all quality control issues and diagnosis of day-to-day quality control problems, and has the ability to amend mislabeled cases and delete bad data from the EMR and/or PACS systems. | Participates in the orientation, preceptorship, and mentoring of students, physicians and other staff as appropriate. | Adheres to environmental standards as it applies to the imaging department to include medication and the cleaning (maintenance) of the imaging rooms. | Conduct patient interview to obtain history and to perform physical assessment. Explain test procedures and reason for test to patients and patient's family. Maintains positive communication with patient, respects and assures privacy of the patient, and assures patient’s needs for comfort and safety are met. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Reduces the risk of healthcare acquired infections through compliance with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines and facility policies including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. Utilizes standard precautions during patient contact and when handling contaminated materials. Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains excellent interpersonal communication with the health care team colleagues. | Emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care-attending to body, mind, and spirit while upholding ethical principles with patient care and all other aspects of work. Actively involves the patient and family in decisions about care. Promotes quality care by participating in organizational councils/committees and/or support of related process. Documents services provided to patients in the electronic medical record in accordance with policy and requirements. |
