Position Summary

The Manager-Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for daily leadership and oversight of the procedural and pre/post care units of the cardiac cath lab and/or electrophysiology (EP) lab. Supervises, coordinates, and evaluates operational activities to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. Works closely with the Director and leadership across the cardiovascular service line to accomplish goals and objectives related to quality, growth, fiscal responsibility.


Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing, radiologic technology, allied health, applied sciences or related field is required.

Master’s Degree in nursing, radiologic technology, healthcare administration or related field is preferred.


Experience

3 years of experience in a cardiac cath lab is required.

3 years of supervisory/team lead or demonstrated leadership experience is required. 


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Radiographer in the state of practice is required.

If Radiographer, certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.

Advanced certification in area of expertise is preferred: Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) from American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) certification from ARRT, OR certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

Responsibilities

Supervises and leads a cohesive team of nurses, technologists, and support staff.

Coordinates the services and activities of the department to ensure quality patient care.

Monitors performance metrics and implements quality improvement initiatives.

Organizes and conducts education and training activities for all staff, including but not limited to orientation, in-service training and continuing education. Ensures achievement and maintenance of core competencies for all staff.

Establishes and maintains harmonious working relationships with physicians and allied health staff to ensure efficient and optimum coordination of service. Serves as front-line resource for physicians relating to patient care.

Maintains consistent effective communication through daily interaction/observation of work performance. Holds meetings as appropriate to share information related to department, ministry and organization.

Works collaboratively with leadership from other departments to coordinate and enhance patient care.

Reviews operating policies and procedures and recommends changes that will improve productivity and quality of care. Communicates policies and procedures as appropriate.

Investigates patient, family, staff and physician complaints and problems, and documents follow-up intervention or remedial strategy.

Ensures a safe environment for the patients, staff, physicians, and visitors within the work area.

Ensures compliance with hospital policies, state, and federal regulations.

Keeps abreast of all new Cath Lab and pre & post procedure trends, techniques, and equipment for continued assessment and updating.

May perform direct patient care, in compliance with licensure/registry, as department needs dictate.


Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. 

Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. 

Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders.
