Position Summary | The Transporter safely retrieves and transports patients to and from various points throughout the organization. Assists with the monitoring and transport of essential medical supplies such as oxygen, IV pumps, and wheelchairs. | | | |
Education | High School Diploma or GED is preferred. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Basic Life Support (BLS) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Demonstrated customer service skills. | Excellent collaboration and team building skills. | Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills. | Highly thorough and dependable. | Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. |
Responsibilities | Makes use of appropriate time management skills to prioritize the transport of patients to meet demand. | Demonstrates understanding and competent use of technology to complete transports within the EMR. | Employs proper body mechanics to provide a safe environment for the patient and transporter. | Verifies patient name by use of patient ID band and have patient recite name, spell last name, and date of birth. | Utilizes appropriate communication logs or tools to ensure continuous patient care. | Strives to reduce delays, errors, duplication in effort and time for customers. | Employs appropriate devices to ensure safety – side rails, brakes, etc. | Observes and acts to correct unsafe equipment or conditions by notifying appropriate personnel or repairing the situation. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members. |
