Position Summary | Directs, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates operational activities within the procedural and pre/post care cardiology units to provide quality patient care. Assures services are compliant with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements. | | | |
Education | Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other clinical discipline is required. | Master’s degree business or other healthcare related discipline is preferred. |
Experience | 2 years critical care, emergency room or charge nurse experience or 2 years Echocardiography, Radiologic Technology, Vascular Ultrasound, Respiratory Therapy, or other clinical related experience is required. | 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience is required. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois or Wisconsin is required. Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules. | May also consider registration in a cardiology clinical related discipline such as Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS); Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS); Registered Cardiac Interventional Specialist (RCIS); Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Registered Technologist of Radiography (RTR); Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or other cardiology registration |

Responsibilities | Develops, implements, revises policies, procedures and practices that guide and support the provisions of services, recommending enough qualified and competent staff to provide patient care and treatment. | Provides effective management and evaluation of staff/activities of the department to assure efficient and productive | Assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided, maintains quality control programs as appropriate. | Promotes an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to patient care. | Establishes and maintains harmonious working relationships with physicians and allied health staff to insure efficient and optimum coordination of service. | Ensure regulatory compliance with existing standard related to care of the patient, documentation, and accurate charge detail, including state, federal and regulatory standards. | Keeps abreast of new procedures, equipment and technologies in the field of service in order to maintain professional expertise and to plan for necessary growth in the area of service. | Develops and implements measures to monitor and evaluate productivity for optimum resource utilization. ibservation | Assists in establishing or revising codes and charges for procedures. | Holds meetings as appropriate to share information.
