Position Summary | The Assistant Professor carries out faculty duties necessary for the ongoing implementation of a baccalaureate & master's nursing program consistent with the mission of the college. Is responsible for activities to maintain a qualified student body, a qualified faculty and a nursing curriculum which meets accreditation standards. Demonstrates scholarship of teaching and leadership through shared governance activities. | | | |
Education | Master’s degree in Nursing is required for baccalaureate program. | Doctorate degree in Nursing required for master’s program. | Evidence of degree must be obtained within 30 days of hire. |
Experience | Two years teaching experience at baccalaureate level preferred. | Per state law nurse faculty must have 2 years clinical experience. For master’s program experience teaching at the master’s level preferred and/or experiential expertise in content area. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice is required. | Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license required for master’s Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track. |

Responsibilities | Conducts assigned tasks negotiated in the workload agreement including but not limited to classroom and/or clinical coursework, evaluation of student performance, committee work, research projects and/or other scholarly endeavors. | Advises assigned students to enable them to negotiate the college environment toward successful acquisition of the degree. | Documents ongoing personal and professional development and recognition internally and externally at the local, state, or national levels for contributions made to the profession and/or community. | Assumes a leadership role while working with faculty and administration in the development, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of the program including the philosophy, goals, curricular offerings and evaluation plan. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members. |
