Position Summary | The Team Lead-RN will work closely with leadership to plan, implement, and facilitate the work activity of the area to accomplish goals and objectives. The Team Lead-RN works in a charge nurse capacity providing leadership, clinical expertise and functional direction to team members in order to ensure the continuity of patient services. Provides shift coordination across departments and within the nursing division to ensure appropriate staffing mix and adherence to quality standards. Responsible for completing assigned projects, leading quality and education initiatives and orienting new colleagues. | | | |
Education | Associates degree or Diploma in Nursing is required. | Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. |
Experience | 3 years nursing experience is required. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required. Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules. | Basic Life Support (BLS) using the Emergency Cardiopulmonary Care through Resuscitation Quality Improvement QI completed within 30 days of hire is required. |

Responsibilities | Frequently rounds with staff and provides interdisciplinary coordination and coaching. | Assures compliance with safety dashboard and other regulatory requirements. | Is expert resource for colleagues needing assistance to identify and make appropriate referrals for education/further assessment (i.e. nutritional services, spiritual care, diabetic educator, social services) or assist with collaboration with other health care disciplines to plan interventions, patient outcomes and goals.Reallocates staff to match resources to care requirements. | Assists with schedule and other administrative duties as directed by manager of unit.Makes daily rounds on inpatients, coordinates care and acts as a liaison with physicians and all involved disciplines in order to oversee patient progression through the affiliate system.Provides documentation of significant activities and information to facilitate investigation and follow-up by leadership. | May investigate upon the direction of leadership. | Provides and coordinates clinical program service education to the interdisciplinary team, including but not limited to nursing care, radiology, rehabilitation therapies, pharmacy, dietary, and care management.Participates in quality improvement initiatives through data collection and/or performance monitoring. | Completes audits and projects as assigned.Provides department/unit specific orientation to new colleagues regarding safety and equipment. | Works with preceptor to ensure exposure to appropriate patient care scenarios for colleague to progress through orientation.Responds to and takes immediate action in urgent and emergent situations as necessary and/or required and subsequently communicates the situation and intervention to leadership in an appropriate time frame. | Provides support to family members and acts as communication liaison between clinical team and family/significant others as needed.Takes patient assignment as needed. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Reduces the risk of healthcare acquired infections through compliance with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines and facility policies including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. Utilizes standard precautions during patient contact and when handling contaminated materials. Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains excellent interpersonal communication with the health care team colleagues. | Emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care-attending to body, mind, and spirit while upholding ethical principles with patient care and all other aspects of work.
