Position Summary

Provides administrative direction and coordination of the nursing service functions at a market level for nursing. Responsible for budgeting and performance objectives and supports a Franciscan culture. Provides administrative leadership, managerial supervision and resource support to improve the effectiveness of the division's patient care services. Oversees the business operations for nursing at a divisional level and exercises discretion and independent judgment.


Education

Master’s degree in business, nursing or healthcare administration or a related field is required.


Experience

3 years of chief nursing leadership experience is required.

 


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required within 90 days of date of hire. Wisconsin:  RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.

Assists leadership team in the development of overall strategic plan for the organization and the delivery of patient care services.

Works closely with medical and administrative directors to maintain an effective system for patient care management.

Promotes and improves physician satisfaction through strong relationships with elected leadership and members of the Medical Staff.

Models service excellence and personally influences the improvement of customer service in areas of responsibility. Maintains customer satisfaction results at levels above peer group norms or achieves consistent improvement in ratings.

Provides the leadership to improve the management of service areas within scope of responsibility.  Evaluates tasks and processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and spread best practices across the organization.

Immediately investigates and resolves issues or complaints concerning an inpatient service provided by the organization.

Maintains ongoing compliance with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards applicable to assigned areas of responsibility. Manages organizational compliance with the Nurse Practice Act. Promptly reports to immediate manager or to the responsibility officer, any facts concerning individual and/or affiliate activities believed to be in violation of the law or ethical standards.

Participates with governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in the organization's decision-making structures and processes.

Routinely keeps leadership informed of committee activity, key issues in area of responsibility, and personal leadership strategy.

Prioritizes capital requests based upon goals, environmental safety and technology required for patient care.

Organizes, supports, and actively participates in affiliate sponsored educational, community and social events.


Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. 

Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. 

Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders.
