Position Summary | Provides oversight and leadership within assigned area of responsibility. Manages the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities. Plans and implements systems that accomplish work objectives and fulfill the mission and goals efficiently and effectively. Plans and allocates resources to effectively staff department and meet productivity and quality goals. Plans, evaluates, and improves the efficiency of processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output. Formulates business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department. Reviews performance data that includes quality, satisfaction, engagement, and financial reports. Monitors and measures productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness. Participates in the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the area of responsibility. Prepares periodic reports for management to track goal accomplishment. Leads colleagues using performance management and development process. Directs and plans annual operating budgets and operating performance analysis. Provides professional leadership and guidance in financial reporting and budget preparation. Works closely with leaders to develop and implement budgets. Interprets budgeted statistical and operational data for leadership and the governing board. Evaluates and reports organizational performance against financial goals and objectives as set by the president and the board. Proposes guidelines and develops formats for operating and capital budgets and financial reports. Oversees business operations of the affiliate and exercises discretion and independent judgment. Evaluates performance and professional development of staff. Supervisory authority includes authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, responsibly direct or adjust grievances. | | | |
Education | Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required. | May consider candidate who is currently enrolled, and BSN is obtained within 2 years of hire. | Master’s degree is preferred. |
Experience | 5 years of nursing experience is required. | 3 years of leadership experience or equivalent is required. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required. | Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules. | Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, fiscal planning, budgeting, and reporting. | Ability to maintain leadership effectiveness while focusing on maximizing operational goals and strategic success. | Able to effectively execute organizational strategies, measure progress and commit to continually seeking opportunities for process improvement. | Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities. | Demonstrates excellent judgement and decision-making skills. | Strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively motivate staff, maintain customer relations with patients as well as key stakeholders (i.e., clinical departments, providers, vendors). |
Responsibilities | Maintains consistent effective communication through daily interaction/observation of work performance. | Participates in defining tactics and methods to foster colleague engagement, successful change management and sustaining improvements Prepare and submit the department's operating, salary and capital budgets according to published affiliate guidelines. | Responsible for operations including, analyzing budgeted FTEs compared to actual and allowed FTEs and taking appropriate corrective actions, if necessary. | Monitors operating expenses, maintains cost control programs, investigates budget variances and takes corrective actions as necessary. | Establishes routine communications to support strategic plan and organization objectives.May function as the assigned director of nursing for regulatory oversight. |
Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. | Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. | Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders. |
