Position Summary | Responsible for managing the preventative and corrective maintenance for the HSHS corporate facilities. This role works closely with Facilities leadership to plan, implement, and coordinate the work activity of the area to accomplish goals and objectives. Responsible for all functions of facilities and maintenance that guarantees the highest quality maintenance services and protects the investment of the facilities and related equipment in the most cost effective and efficient manner. | | | |
Education | Graduate of an accredited technical school program in power plant operation, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, machine shop practice, or basic electricity is required.High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in power plant operation, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, machine shop practice, basic electricity or related field may be accepted in lieu of an accredited technical degree. |
Experience | 5 years of experience in oversite or management of power plant operations, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, machine shop practice, basic electricity, large data center utilities, complex electrical and back up systems, or related field is required.(This experience level is required in addition to the experience that would be required in lieu of education if colleague does not meet the technical degree requirement.) |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Illinois State UST operator’s license is required. | If unlicensed, must obtain Illinois State UST operator’s license within six (6) months of hire date. | AMA Management or equivalent management training is preferred. |

Responsibilities | Maintains and administers the preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance of building system and automotive fleet. | Assures compliance with all federal, state, and local related codes and regulations relating to the facilities and the secondary equipment.Assists in the planning, development, and budgeting of new construction and remodeling of current structures.Develops and implements service area policies, procedures, and objectives.Manages construction projects for assigned HSHS facilities. | This includes oversite, cost management, change order management, and construction budget management.Prepares timely reports and statistics as required by Facilities leadership.Maintains department records, reports and files as required.Serves on committees as requested. | May be called in during emergencies to provide adequate support and coverage.Negotiates service agreements with vendors for assigned HSHS facilities. | This includes but is not limited to trash removal, pest control, landscaping, snow removal, monitoring and inspection services.Work with System Director on development of operations and construction budgets. |
Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline.
