Position Summary

Under general supervision, assists in the gathering and analyzing of data, development, support and functionality roll out of Epic and other supporting IT systems. Assists local ministries in optimizing their workflow processes through building applications that are tailored to meet the organization's needs. Demonstrates a very good working knowledge of the Epic system's capabilities and functional use and applies their knowledge of clinical and/or business workflows to assist in the implementation of a system that meets process needs.


Education

Associate’s degree in Clinical, Informatics, Computer Science, Business or related field is required.

High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in healthcare IT, clinical, hospital/ambulatory business office environment or related experience may be accepted in lieu of an Associate’s degree.


Experience

3 years of Epic Application Analyst or related experience is required. (This experience level is required in addition to the experience that would be required in lieu of education if colleague does not meet the Associate’s degree requirement.)


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Epic certification or accreditation in designated functionality module(s) is required or must be obtained within six (6) months.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve problems.

Possesses strong technical aptitude and initiative to continually expand knowledge base.

Possesses understanding of information technology systems and products.

Possesses knowledge to be an Epic Data Mover.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve error logs and work queue setup and issue resolution.


Responsibilities

Participates in all phases of the system development life cycle including development of use cases and evaluation of software solutions.Conducts research to develop, configure, document and modify moderately complex information systems.Creates documentation of business requirements, current and future state workflows.

Translates complex workflows into training documents.Designs, codes/configures, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains programs/applications.

Coordinates all testing phases of associated applications during implementations and upgrades.Supports existing functionality with further expansion to additional local ministries and/or ambulatory offices.Develops strong relationships with end user communities, customers and business partners.

Selects among authorized procedures and seeks assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference.Analyzes and resolves complex issues, including but not limited to emergent regulatory changes, patient satisfaction and patient safety needs.

Manages multiple assignments in an organized way.Provides evening, night, and/or weekend on-call support as scheduled.Provides guidance to less experienced Epic Application Analysts.

Assists with the coordination and implementation of Tier 1 information technology (IT) projects.Assists in implementation, troubleshooting and resolution of third-party issues.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
