Position Summary

Manages all programs and functions related to the operation and coordination involving architecture, engineering, and construction projects (AE&C). Responsible for project management and planning functions involving internal and external construction and renovation. This role also oversees the total construction effort within the assigned ministry(ies) to ensure projects are constructed in accordance to design, budget, and schedule. The role is also responsible for effectively communicating and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and providing oversight of subcontractors to ensure contract compliance.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or a related field is required.Master’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or a related field is preferred.Five (5) years of experience in construction management, architecture, engineering or relatedexperience is required in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.


Experience

5 years of project management experience in a healthcare setting is required. 8 years of experience working on healthcare, education or commercial projects is required.This experience level is required in addition to the experience required in lieu of educationif a colleague does not meet the position's degree requirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Understanding of the design process including concept, schematic, design development, and construction as it relates to structural engineering.Understanding of healthcare including medical equipment impacts and considerations for structural design, International Building Code (IBC) and American Society of Civil Engineers-7 (ASCE-7).Firsthand and sustained experience in all phases of architectural design and construction and project estimating.Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems and quality assurance/quality control process.

Advanced knowledge of building codes, constructability and accessibility guidelines including National Fire Protection Act (NFPA) 99, NFPA 101, Joint Commission standards, Americans with Disabilities Act, and applicable state requirements.

Knowledge of E-Builder construction management tool.Proficiency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC contraction principles.


Responsibilities

Facilitates efforts to effectively execute project design and delivery of implementation documents through all phases of a project, including post-occupancy evaluation and sharing/harvesting lessons learned and project impact.

Acts as a primary contact in the client relationship for respective projects, and building, strengthening connections through a comprehensive understanding of the project’s mission, goals, policies, needs and progress.Collaborates on the design process including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, document preparation, estimating, and construction administration.

Also participates in the owner equipment efforts for specifying, procuring and installing owner equipment.Leads the project team in collaboration with other disciplines to establish design solutions that can be technically implemented within the constraints of the project goals, budgets, available time and within local ordinances and codes.Coordinates with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, to respond to requests for information, clarifications and modifications and to obtain approvals and adjust scope of services.Leads development of code analysis and confirms code and zoning requirements for assigned segment of project are met.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
