Position Summary

The Supervisor-Rehab Services is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations while addressing clinical issues, advancing clinical practice guideline development, enhanced clinical efficiencies, performance management, and staff development. Responsible for delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services. Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements, and executes on treatment plan as outlined by plan of care. Serves as an educator for patients, families, students, co-workers and self-professional advancement. Performs other professional duties associated with the care of patient, development of therapy program services, and engagement and development of interdisciplinary teams. Responsible for organizing the administrative and clinical aspects of therapy services in the assigned departments and/or locations. This may include inpatient, outpatient and/or both services.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology is required. 

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology is preferred.


Experience

3 years of clinical experience as a therapist is required.

1 year of progressive leadership experience is required.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed as a Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT) or Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in the state of practice is required.

Board Certification (e.g. CHT,OCS, etc.) which meets rigorous standards of maintenance or certification is preferred. 

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership and supervision to assigned area/colleagues: orients, schedules, coordinates colleagues within assigned areas; acts as a liaison between departments and other hospital sites; prepares for and leads meetings.

Oversees operations management to meet objectives, enhance efficiencies, maximize access to care, maintain patient safety and experience, and promote quality.

Participates in direct patient care as staffing levels require, by performing the duties of a therapist.

Assists the Director/Manager with leadership/organizational functions, including daily operations. May assume responsibilities of the Director/Manager in his/her absence.

Collaborates with Director, Manager and staff to resolve departmental/interdepartmental issues. 

Responsible for coordination of orientation/onboarding, training, competency assessment, and initiatives as assigned by the department Director/Manager.

Leads department efforts in effective communication and relationship management with internal and external stakeholders to support mission and vision of organization.

Participates in mentorship (e.g., student/peer) to enhance quality and skill which includes acting as a resource for staff. Also, included is participation in professional organization or community volunteerism that engages professional representation.

Participates in the writing, reviewing, and updating of the department policies and procedures.

Assists with all rehab regulatory requirements.


Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. 

Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. 

Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders.
