Position Summary | The Registered Nurse (RN)–Dedicated Call is specifically responsible for coverage of on-call procedures during weekday and/or weekends hours, including holidays, within their designated department. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, and supervising assigned team members. Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments, and following nursing philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Education | Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice is required. | Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. |
Experience | If assigned to the Cath Lab: 3 years of nursing experience in a cardiac cath lab is required. Experience with diagnostic and interventional cardiac, peripheral and neuro cases, as well as device implants is required. | If assigned to OR, CVOR, GI/Endo, Interventional Radiology: 1 year of nursing experience in designated area is required. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required. | Wisconsin: RNs may begin employment with a valid multi-state RN license; a WI RN license will be required within 30 days of establishing permanent residency. | Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. | Cath Lab, GI/Endo and Interventional Radiology: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required. |

Responsibilities | Perform treatments, assists physicians with procedures and provides services within scope of practice. | Performs comprehensive initial patient assessment and reassessments. | Follows nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation, incorporating physical as well as psychosocial needs of designated patient populations. Identifies and makes appropriate referrals for education/further assessment (ie. nutritional services, spiritual care, diabetic educator, social services). | Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes and goals. Communicates relevant clinical information to the physicians regarding the patient’s condition. | Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome and goal-oriented plan of care. Analyzes and interprets assessment data to identify desired patient outcomes and goals. Determines nursing interventions to achieve those outcomes and goals. Prioritizes patient care needs and activities. | Implements the plan of care including procedures, treatments, physician orders, nursing orders, education plan and medications. Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate. | Reduces the risk of healthcare acquired infections through compliance with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines and facility policies including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. Utilizes standard precautions during patient contact and when handling contaminated materials. Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals. | Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality. Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline.
