Position Summary

Provides overall leadership in the areas of Financial Operations.  Included in the work is the creation of the budget as well as variance analysis. Works to find opportunities for enhancement of the financial performance across all divisional entities. Has significant work with a team, matrix environment providing oversight and development across multiple locations, and coordination with system functional teams across the System.


Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.

Master's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.


Experience

10 years of relevant experience working with a hospital or healthcare organization is required.

5 years of leadership experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Has an expert understanding of financial analysis and understanding of how finance and hospital operations work together.

Has advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel and Outlook.

Expert investigational skills, shows attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities. The ability to manage those priorities and lead a team to achieve the goals.

The ability to create and grow a team that has excellent customer service; anticipates, understands, and addresses customer needs in a timely manner. Ability to work and lead in a team environment and develop constructive working relationships with others.

Demonstrable communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and lead complex projects and activities. Possess initiative, analytical skills, and an ability to operate with a high level of productivity.

Must excel in a matrix environment to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

Analysis with Local Operations - salary, contract labor, FTE/Productivity, and benchmarking.

Develops budgets and projections by working with the system and local leadership.

Creates and grows a team that demonstrates excellent customer service skills; anticipates, understands, and addresses customer needs in a timely manner.

Provides valuable input to monthly and quarterly internal reports and analyses.  Focuses on meaningful and material data points that shed light on execution quality and improvement opportunities.  Acts proactively and shows initiative with regard to risk assessment, escalation and mitigation.

Develops training materials and programs (whether formal or informal) that optimize and standardize the processes and tools used by the Business Operations organization.

Provides month-end analysis for both revenue and expenses, including preparation of materials / analysis for System and Board review.

Supports senior on projects as needed.

Work collaboratively with centralized accounting on ministry specific items; including 990's, audit footnotes, and cost reports.

Manage and mentor Analysts in order to foster their development and improve the business acumen of the business you support as a whole.

Reviews, understands, and performs contract reviews.


Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. 

Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. 

Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders.
