Position Summary

The Senior Supply Chain Technician-Clinical assists in the organization, oversight and coordination of all supply related needs and supply chain administration for procedural areas such as surgery or cath lab. Partners with physicians, department leadership, sales representatives and supply chain teams to respond to inventory needs and special requests. Evaluates supply use and opportunities for cost saving initiatives.


Education

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Associates degree in Healthcare, Supply Chain, Business or related field is preferred.


Experience

3 years of experience in healthcare, inventory management, sourcing, supply replenishment or related field is required.

Experience working in procedural environments is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrates written/verbal communication skills and listening skills with staff, physicians, and vendors.

Knowledge of computer applications necessary for data retrieval and analysis, i.e. Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the instrumentation and supplies used in surgical services and a thorough understanding of how they are used.

Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities and successfully balance various duties to ensure department efficiency.

Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills with a high level of accuracy, even under pressure.

Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Responsibilities

Manages inventory levels and replenishment processes for procedural area supplies.

Coordinates with the procedural area partners to monitor out of stock, backorder, and allocation reports, as appropriate.

Reviews scheduled procedure requests/special needs daily and coordinates with physicians, department leadership, sales representatives, supply chain, team leads and Central Sterile Processing as necessary.

Secures trial/loan equipment and documents such transactions, if applicable.

Keeps supply areas organized and stocked.

Utilizes knowledge of instruments and supplies to ensure that appropriate and accurate equipment is available and ready.

Coordinates and collaborates in standardization and cost savings initiatives in the Procedural department.

Coordinates and collaborates in the process of bringing in new supplies and equipment.

Works with providers and staff to ensure accuracy of preference cards as needed.

Participates in the evaluation and investigation of discrepancies in receiving and/or invoicing of supplies/equipment.

Participates in the facility’s product alert and recall program, if applicable.

Performs cycle counts and/or physical inventory of supplies and adjusts inventory values as needed.

Oversees supplies related consignment agreements as needed.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
