Position Summary

The Program Manager–Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing and enhancing group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts. Leads strategic sourcing events involving key stakeholders and suppliers in the process, managing the project to completion. Interacts with internal and external customers to facilitate end-user satisfaction, ensures outstanding supplier performance, and takes action to resolve any contract or supplier related issues.


Education

Bachelor’s in business, supply chain or related field is required. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or related clinical degree is required.

Master’s degree in business, health care administration, nursing, supply chain or a related field is preferred.

Associates degree in business, supply chain or related field and three years of experience in supply chain or health care experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.


Experience

5 years supply chain contracting, strategic sourcing or related experience is required.

5 years of healthcare experience is required.

3 years of progressive leadership experience is required.

May consider a current HSHS Administrative Fellow or a candidate who has completed a health system Administrative Fellowship program in lieu of all required experience.

Experience with GPO programs and processes within healthcare is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of ERP systems - PeopleSoft and Workday, analytical tools and presentation software.

Demonstrated project management skills.

Excellent collaboration and team building skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of contract structures, terms, conditions, risk mitigation, and experience executing/drafting business requirements and key performance indicators in contracts.

Knowledge of suppliers, products, services, and equipment used in the healthcare sector.

Advanced knowledge of strategic sourcing processes and methodologies.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Develops and delivers effective presentations.


Responsibilities

Establishes and manages category projects, involving key stakeholders and suppliers, through the process of discovery, analysis, negotiation, and finalization of contracts.

Develops, leads and executes sourcing strategies using the value analysis process.

Identifies supply and cost-reduction opportunities. Creates strategies to result in sourcing savings.

Crafts negotiation strategies and closes contracts with optimal terms.

Maintains a thorough knowledge of all product and service needs and industry developments related to assigned spend categories.

Builds effective working relationships with suppliers.

Leads systemwide initiatives and presents to user groups and executive leadership.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
