Position Summary | The Market Director-Pharmacy provides overall direction and guidance to the operational activities within the regional service line with objective of maximizing quality, growth, fiscal responsibility, and profitability. Works in collaboration with local and shared services leadership in the areas of: operations; strategic planning; service development and marketing; stakeholder service, system standardization, quality, patient safety and throughput. Directs, supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates clinical and operational activities of pharmacy leadership ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and fiscal responsibility of pharmacy throughout the market ministries and applicable retail locations. | | | |
Education | Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required. | Master’s degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy is preferred. |
Experience | 5 years of Pharmacy experience is required. | 3 years of Pharmacy leadership experience is required. | Residency preferred. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Licensed as Pharmacist in state of practice is required. | Board Certification is preferred. |

Responsibilities | Effectively builds teams across the market ensuring that all colleagues' talents are utilized appropriately and are supported. Inventories talent and resources across area of responsibility within market to make certain resources are appropriately allocated. | Plans, develops, and maintains clinical pharmacy services to better meet physician and patient needs, while keeping pharmaceutical expenses to the minimum necessary for optimal patient care. | Provides for high quality drug distribution, drug use control, and education for pharmacy staff, healthcare personnel, and patients/family so that patients receive appropriate, accurate and timely drug therapy in the safest, most effective manner. | Responsible for all pharmacy-related operations conducted conducted across the market according to hospital and department procedures, federal and state laws and regulations, licensing and accreditation standards to minimize legal liability and assure licensure and accreditation. | Develops and implements policies and procedures across hospitals within market to ensure consistency and efficiency. Assists with revising standards of care for pharmacy practice when necessary. | Works collaboratively with market administration, medical staff, and leadership teams to ensure safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services. | Maintains Quality Assurance plans and drug monitoring programs. Leads quality improvement efforts for pharmacy services within market. |
Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. | Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. | Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders. |
