Position Summary

The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of a defined portfolio of Major Gift prospects for defined ministry or market fundraising opportunities along with Hospital Sisters of St. Francis (HSSFF) system priorities. This role will personally engage donors, community leaders, physicians and caregivers, department leaders and other volunteers in the fundraising process.

 


Education

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Philanthropic Studies, Business, Finance or related field is required. 

High School Diploma or equivalent plus 5 years related experience in communications, marketing, sales, wealth management, or fundraising may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree. 


Experience

3 years experience in planning and execution of donor/client solicitation or new business activities is required (This experience is in addition to experience used in lieu of degree).

Experience with fundraising and data management systems is required.  Raiser's Edge experience is highly preferred.

Experience with moves management process, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manages an active annual, major, and planned giving donor/prospect portfolio in alignment with HSSFF standards for the position to meet or exceed determined annual fundraising goals.

Completes all assigned solicitation activity aligned with deadlines and HSSFF solicitation protocols.

Cultivates and stewards gifts from individuals by maintaining appropriate contact with annual, major and planned giving donors and developing new relationships with prospects.

Leads development of fundraising case and materials for assigned mini-campaigns or campaigns.

Works with Foundation Market leader to strategize major gift solicitation approach inclusive of new donor acquisition and growth.

Ensures all donor/prospect actions and engagements are properly recorded in HSSFF database.

Assists in the creation of external content and collateral for the Foundation, including but not limited to appeals, newsletters, social media, website, and invitations as requested.

Assists with and supports Foundation cultivation, fundraising and stewardship events.

Ensures proper gift acknowledgment, donor recognition and donor stewardship deliverables are completed according to HSSFF expectations and standards are maintained at all times.


Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
