Position Summary

The Patrol Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the hospital premises by conducting regular foot and mobile patrols, maintaining detailed reports, and interacting professionally with both internal and external personnel, patients, & families. This role involves managing assigned security equipment, maintaining patrol vehicles, and effectively communicating with supervisors to ensure operational efficiency. The officer is expected to provide excellent customer service while adhering to company standards and safety protocols.

High School Diploma, GED or related vocational training is required.

Associates degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or military service is preferred.

1 year of experience with knowledge of private security functions obtained through education or work experience such as military, public safety or fire department is preferred. 

Valid state driver’s license is required.

Successfully complete the Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Certification within the first 90 days of employment is preferred, if applicable.

Able to form strong working relationships with hospital staff.

Possesses good customer service and communication skills.

Knowledge of healthcare environments such as what threats and vulnerabilities are present.

Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision-making skills and effective conflict management skills.

Maintains composure and self-control under pressure.

Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information.

Operates the company patrol vehicle to conduct mobile security services, adhering to site-specific instructions and company values.

Maintains the safety and security of assigned premises by conducting regular patrols, both on foot and in vehicle, monitoring activities, and responding to incidents. Deters unauthorized activities, ensures compliance with security protocols, and provides a safe environment for employees, visitors, and property.

Maintains the assigned patrol vehicle, ensuring it is fueled, washed, cleaned, and inspected for operational readiness. Operates the company patrol vehicle to conduct mobile security services, adhering to site-specific instructions, policies and procedures.

Accurately documents all security activities, incidents, and observations using company technology and web/app-based software during each shift.

Interacts with internal and external customers, cultivating positive relationships and ensuring peace of mind through professional and courteous service.

Communicates promptly with the Dispatcher, Security Officers, and Supervisor to report vendor, personnel, visitor, patient or property-related concerns.

Properly manages and maintains all assigned security equipment, including radios, access keys/cards, uniforms, and devices.

Manage daily security activities and meet performance benchmarks set by the Branch Patrol Supervisor, including reporting standards and service quality.

Use effective communication to deescalate issues and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner.

Communicates regularly with the Supervisor-Security during daily meetings to receive updates on needs, patrol changes, and post order modifications, ensuring operational efficiency.

Accurately documents all security activities, incidents, and observations using company technology and web/app-based software during each shift.

Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
