Position Summary

The IT Infrastructure & Cloud Architect is responsible for the design and build of IT enterprise scale solutions that meet system requirements and align to organizational initiatives. This role sets technology direction and provides oversight for technical decisions within assigned areas of focus including, but not limited to, scalability, security, and efficient infrastructure solutions, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises systems and cloud (potentially multi-cloud) platforms. This position is within the IT Infrastructure team but will have organizational wide influence. The architect will work closely with IT and Operations leadership, security team, and other stakeholders to optimize performance, reliability, and security across the organization's technology stack.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is required.

High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience in a technical role managing a combination of the following may be considered in lieu of degree:  Virtual and physical server hardware, software, and application delivery mechanisms; Microsoft server operating systems and software; Programming languages; Networking, VPNs, and Routing; SAN and NAS administration; Data management; Data protection. 

5-8 years of experience in networking, IT architecture, information security, virtualization, or other related information technology field is required. (This experience level is required in addition to the experience that would be required in lieu of education if colleague does not meet the degree requirement.) 

5 years of experience in healthcare IT, cloud administration (Azure and/or AWS), and/or virtualized application management is required.

2 years of experience with multi-domain and multi-site Active Directory structure and management is required.

2 years of experience with networking concepts including firewalls, VPNs, network protocols, and routing is required.

2 years of experience with security frameworks and compliance standards is required.

2 years of experience working across multi-disciplined teams and subject matter experts to ensure well-integrated sets of solutions adhering to enterprise standards is required.

2 years of experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure, implementing security measures, and optimizing cloud performance using tools like Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud monitoring solutions is preferred.

Microsoft Certifications (365, Endpoint Manager, SCCM, etc.) is preferred.

VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) or VMware Horizon Cloud certification is preferred.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is preferred.

ITIL Certification is preferred.

Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ is preferred.

Public Cloud Administration Certification(s) is preferred.

Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, etc.).

Demonstrates expert level of communication skills and leading in a highly collaborative and independent environment.

Ability to successfully communicate between both technical and non-technical individuals.

Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

Strong mentoring skills.

Provides advanced technical support for IT virtualization infrastructure, system and application software, and develop reports and utility applications as needed across both multi-on-prem and multi-cloud environments.

Represents service offerings to stakeholders with a strong customer service orientation.

Architects, configures, optimizes, and maintains healthcare application presentation layers within Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware, Omnissa, VMware Horizon Cloud, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) across both multi-on-prem and multi-cloud environments

Ensures seamless functionality of Epic, PACS, and other clinical applications across various endpoints, including thin clients, workstations, and mobile devices at multiple hospital locations and clinics.

Addresses scaling, resolution, font rendering, and latency issues for virtual desktop and cloud-based applications.

Monitors and optimizes Azure and hybrid-cloud infrastructures for efficient healthcare application performance.

Implements high-availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and backup strategies for both on-prem and cloud-hosted applications.

Manages, test, and deploy security patches, software updates, and system upgrades for Citrix, VMware, and cloud-hosted applications.

Collaborates with cybersecurity teams to assess vulnerabilities and implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), endpoint security, and zero-trust policies.

Monitors security threats and performance risks using tools such as Citrix Director, VMware vROps, and Azure Security Center.

Diagnoses and resolves application performance, security, and accessibility issues for clinicians and administrative users.

Prepares complex reports, correspondence, and documents; participate in committees, task forces, and professional development opportunities.

Provides decision-making, coaching, and mentoring to the extended team.

Plans, designs, builds, tests, and implements IT systems and technologies aligned with overall IT direction.

Conducts technology evaluations, explore emerging trends, and identify innovative IT solutions to enhance service offerings and mitigate risks.

Possess the information, skill, and understanding of the work to be performed.  Actively participates in continuing education opportunities and maintains certifications, licensure as appropriate.

Abides by all safety requirements including demonstrating proper hand hygiene and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if applicable. 

Complies with all standards, policies and procedures including dress code, attendance and punctuality.  Attends required in-services and meetings and completes all mandatory competencies by deadline. Commits to keeping all patient, student or colleague information confidential and maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with team members.
