Position Summary | The Supervisor-Physician Enterprise Facilities collaborates with leadership in the planning, directing, and coordinating of Maintenance Technicians and/or trade colleagues concerning activities with maintenance and construction of the building and grounds. | | | |
Education | Associates degree in facilities maintenance, facilities management or a related field is required. | High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years’ experience in a related field of maintenance, property management, or healthcare facilities may be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree. |
Experience | 3 years of property management, healthcare facilities or maintenance experience is required. | 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience is required. | 1 year of experience in a field such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Electronics, Clinical Engineering or related field is preferred. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Certification in a trade field such as (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Electronics, Clinical Engineering) is preferred. | State certification under Mechanic Evaluation and Certification for Healthcare (MECH) or American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) is preferred. | Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) certification is preferred. | Basic knowledge of construction procedures, including Interim Life Safety Measure (ILSM) is preferred. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Demonstrates excellent communication skills. | Strong mechanical skills. | Demonstrates strong project management skills. | Demonstrates excellent judgement and decision-making skills. | Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills when addressing issues. | Knowledgeable in basic operations of computer skills and associated software. | Knowledge of basic code requirements such as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). |
Responsibilities | Provides supervision, direction, and coordination for effective maintenance of facilities equipment. | Ensures the accuracy of records needed for regulatory body surveys and proper preventative maintenance is performed on equipment as needed and according to regulatory requirements. | Collaborates with contractors to ensure proper procedures are followed and work is completed according to HSHS contract and hospital standards. | Directly responsible for budgeting for preventative maintenance. | Effectively communicates with contractors and clinical staff to set work schedules for shutdowns. | Schedules staff to ensure proper coverage for all shifts. | Provides supervision, direction and coordination of construction projects or repairs. | Ten percent of time may be spent performing functional work in plumbing or electronics. | Provides input and collaborates with his/her leader on the operational budget for all areas of responsibilities. |
Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. | Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. | Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders. |
