Position Summary

The Supervisor-Transfer Center, oversees daily operations of the Illinois Division Transfer Center, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant patient transfers. This role serves as a clinical resource, leads staff development, and supports quality, regulatory, and process improvement initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders.

 


Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing is required.

Associates degree in nursing and three years of clinical nursing experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.


Experience

5 years acute care nursing experience is required.

Prior Transfer Center experience is strongly preferred.

One of supervisory, charge nurse, or team lead experience in an acute care setting is required.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within three months of hire date.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated skills in problem solving, analytical and critical thinking, prioritization, negotiation, conflict resolution, and proactive decision making.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups, including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization.

Ability to provide ongoing coaching (meaningful feedback) and mentoring to aid in the development needs of colleagues.

Ability to handle multiple assignments and priorities while maintaining focus on critical priorities to achieve outstanding results.


Responsibilities

Oversees the entire cycle of the Transfer Center daily functions.

Maintains consistent and effective communication through daily interaction/observation of work performance, holds meetings as appropriate to share information, and communicates policies and procedures as appropriate.

Assists in data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and analyzing trends for the purpose of developing and implementing protocols, policies and procedures, and providing data to service lines and business development teams.

Ensures that staff is proficient in the understanding of Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) regulation and provides exceptional documentation practices for all transfers.

Establishes ongoing education of the transfer center team to maintain a high degree of awareness around service line capabilities at each ministry site.

Participates in various marketing, outreach, and community focused activities.

Manages and leads the onboarding of team members, providing day-to-day support and training new Transfer Center team members.

Participates in committees and quality improvement initiatives through data collection and/or performance monitoring that relates to the Transfer Center.


Leads a team of colleagues in human resource initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction. 

Leads or supports the financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitors productivity standards; manages the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility. 

Leads or supports change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to; strives for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicates a clear vision; influences and motivates others; and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders.
