Position Summary | The Supervisor – Security & Emergency Management is responsible for overseeing daily security operations while providing market-level leadership for emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts. This role ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff while advancing a comprehensive and compliant Emergency Management Program. The Supervisor leads staff, coordinates with internal and external partners, and supports organizational readiness across complex clinical and operational settings. | | | |
Education | Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Security, Safety, Emergency Management, Public Safety, Fire Science, or a related field is required. | A high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of experience in security, public safety, or law enforcement may be considered in lieu of an associate's degree. |
Experience | Three years of experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or safety is required. | One year of demonstrated leadership experience is required. | Five years of experience in healthcare security and/or safety is preferred. |
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations | Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification is required within one year of hire. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. | Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service and work collaboratively in a team environment. | Strong understanding of electronic security systems and advanced knowledge of safety, security, and emergency response practices in a healthcare environment. | Knowledge of non-security software systems such as Microsoft Office. | Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population, including hospital staff, visitors, and external agencies. | Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information. | Excellent time management skills. |
Responsibilities | Supervises daily security operations, including staffing, scheduling, performance management, and team development. | Responds to and oversees security incidents, workplace violence events, and emergency situations, ensuring appropriate resolution and documentation. | Conducts patrols, monitors surveillance and access control systems, and maintains situational awareness of high-risk areas. | Reviews and approves incident reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely entry into reporting systems. | Enforces access control measures and hospital safety and security policies across the campus. | Collaborates with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other external agencies during incidents and emergency responses. | Leads or supports investigations, root cause analyses, and implementation of corrective actions and best practices. | Participates in Physical Environment, Safety, and Security committees, contributing to program improvements and regulatory compliance. | Conducts risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments and implements mitigation strategies. | Provides market-level leadership for the Emergency Management Program, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational priorities. | Leads the Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) process and oversees plan development, updates, and standardization. | Serves in a leadership role within the Incident Command Structure and coordinates response efforts during activations. | Ensures readiness of Incident Command Centers and emergency communication protocols. | Develops, coordinates, and evaluates emergency drills and exercises in collaboration with leadership and committees. | Participates in the on-call rotation and supports system-wide emergency response and communication efforts as needed. |
